NEW PORTABLE DEVICE MAKES SECURITY ASSESSMENT QUICKER
Sec-Tec is building a portable device to increase the speed and efficiency of its wireless assessment service. The size of a pound coin, the E16 cards can perform network encryption tasks up to 214 times faster than the current top-of-the range PC servers.
THE CARD THAT CAN CRACK YOUR WIRELESS NETWORK
For clients, this new card means that a quicker, more thorough security assessment can be carried out off-premises. Operated from the wireless assessment van, the E16 speeds up the simulated 'attacks' on the company's wireless nfrastructure massively. Being small, energy-efficient, and portable, it's also better for the environment than traditional equipment. "The E16 will vastly improve our wireless assessment service," explains Dave Wray, Principal Consultant at Sec-Tec. "On our first trial assessment, we had acquired Domain Admin within an hour."
In the wrong hands, the E16 would allow a hacker to perform multiple security breaches before the client had even realised anything was amiss. In Sec-Tec's hands, the little card provides the highest-spec security analysis available.
FIRST FOR TECHNOLOGY
Keeping up with technological developments is crucial in order to maintain an effective security strategy. Although cards like the E16 have been used in intelligence agencies for years, Sec-Tec is the first European company to build one for commercial markets. The exciting new E16 won't just speed up and improve Sec-Tec's security assessments - it will also set new standards across the industry.
The latest technology has gone into the development of the PicoComputing E16 FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) cards. They use custom hardware to increase the speed of network encryption attacks. Where a top-of-the-range traditional server can perform 70 attacks per second, each E16 card can perform up to 1,000, with upto 15 cards in each server. It can attack a number of network encryption keys, including WPA, and all for a fraction of the running and environmental costs of the traditional servers.
The card will be operated from Sec-Tec's wireless surveillance van (affectionately known as the Buggy-boo), which features high-gain antennae. "We can obtain data, analyse the attacks, and begin attacking the encryption in almost no time at all," says Dave Wray, "and all without setting foot on the client's premises."
WIRELESS ASSESSMENT
Sec-Tec will soon be offering a fixed-price wireless assessment, using the E16 to perform a wider range of simulated attacks than competing services. Introduction of the energy-efficient E16 makes this service extremely competitively priced. For information about the service, just call us on:
